7 powerful lessons from a classic movie scene on how to live like a champion

7 powerful lessons from a classic movie scene on how to live like a champion7 powerful lessons from a classic movie scene on how to live like a championSports are not just for pleasure. When we watch with a discerning eye, sports willingly give us the tools and assets we need to build ur lives to win at whatever we pursue. I look at our core values structures. In basketball, we need to look no further than LeBron James to see a fierce competitor who always gives his best. These Winter Olympics, weve seen grit and perseverance personified by athletes like Japanese figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu and skier Marit Bjoergen of Norway.Follow Ladders on FlipboardFollow Ladders magazines on Flipboard covering Happiness, Productivity, Job Satisfaction, Neuroscience, and moraEach day were immersed in situations that provide definition and clarity to our livesenabling us to see parts that we can add to make our own, becoming the sum of who we truly want to be. Its the kindness that we show to a stra nger, allowing them on the subway first. Its gratitude shown to a daycare worker who puts the needs of your child before their own.We see love and commitment in the world around us. Our prism to see this is amplified in magnitude when viewed through the paradigm of sports. Ive coached basketball for six years, and its been among the most rewarding experiences of my life. Ive learned about positive attitude, hard work, and discipline, allvalues that appear in my book, The Value of You.These values and lessons are not just fundamentals for living a successful and happy life, they will transform your way of thinking and lead you to magnificent opportunities and relationships.Few movies have had as profound an impact on me as the classic,Hoosiers. It came out when I welches just a kid, though as I began to play the game of basketball, I saw its wisdom in how I created my makeup and approach to the game. I realized that even in sports, its so much more about the mental, emotionaland even spiritualmakeup we have.As I got older and became a business coach, sports coach and professional, I understood why so many of the lessons from this movie resonate with millions today. Ive listed out seven parts of Gene Hackmans legendary locker room speech to his team prior to the state semifinal game. Ive broken each part down by the true message he aims to convey. Its wisdom and lessons are practical for all of us. Theyre filled with great guidance you can deploy in your lifeno matter your profession or where you find yourself trying to go. I hope you find this rewarding on your journey1. Theres a tradition in tournament play to not talk about the next step until youve climbed the one in front ofyou.Focus on the task at hand. Immerse yourself with maximum effort and a positive attitude in that one moment. I encourage you to make goals, dream big and focus on the task at hand. Dont concern yourself with all the next steps when youre there in the trenches working on the task at han d.2. Im sure going to the State finals is beyond your wildest dreams, so lets just keep it rightthere. We all dream, imagine and realize that the moment of standing in the winners circle will be exhilarating and triumphant. This is what we work for. And yet, if we concern ourselves with this too much while were in the momenton our journeywe fail. We get nervous. The best way to keep your nerves in checkand succeedis to focus on the process.3. Forget about the crowds, the size of the school, their fancy uniforms, and remember what got youhere.Forget about all the glittery thingsfrankly the things that dont really matter. Especially when youre competing for something, focus on doing the job to the best of your ability. The more you progress in life, the more important it is to keep moving forward. Yet, its just as important to remember all the great things youve done to lead you to where you are todaystanding as a proud man or woman of accomplishment. Closer to your dream.4. Focus on t he fundamentals that weve gone over time and timeagain.Plain and simplefocus on your values. Focus on the fundamentals that serve as the foundation for you to live the life you wanton your terms.5. And most important, dont get caught up thinking about winning or losing thisgame.Dont worry too much about the result. Rely on all of the preparation, values, planning and being yourself to do your best. Ive read how college basketball coaching great, Jay Wrightdoesnt even talk much about winning and losing. On your journey, focus on building yourself up to who you truly desire to be. The dreams and visions implanted in your heart and mind will suffice and permit you to move forward at the pace you desire.6. If you put your effort and concentration into playing to your potential, to be the best that you can be, (and) 7. I dont care what the scoreboard says at the end of the game, in my book were gonna be winnersHard Work. Focus. Competitive Greatness. Dedication. Devotion. Maximizing your potential. And again, if you focus on the task at hand, do your absolute best without worry, youre going to always end up a winner. Regardless of whoever is keeping the official score. You will always win when you define success, create goals and then work for them with a values-based, winners mindset. Focus on the moment. That moment is really all that matters.Build Your Game Plan toWinIm helping thousands of people each day build their life on values and put together their personal game plan. Robotics Engineer Job and Salary

Robotics Engineer Job and SalaryRobotics Engineer Job and SalaryJust a few decades ago, robotics engineer jobs didnt exist at all. In fact, robots like C-3PO and HAL 9000 were the stuff of science fiction - futuristic characters many people never dreamed theyd see in their lifetimes. In recent years, however, robots have become an essential part of ur world. Theyre currently used to perform jobs ranging from simple tasks like scooping cat litter and vacuuming floors all the way to providing elder care and exploring the surface of Mars.Though were still in the early stages of the robotic revolution, each day brings new uses for robots. As a result, there is now a significant demand for talented robotics engineers to design and develop solutions for everyday problems.Does the sound of this job intrigue you? Read on for more about the duties and requirements of this role, as well as what sort of robotics engineer salary you can expect. What does a robotics engineer do?To fully understand the position, it helps to first know a little about robots themselves. A robot can be roughly defined as a machine thats able to execute a physical action without human supervision. Most existing robots were created to perform a single function. For example, robots in car manufacturing facilities usually have very specific jobs, such as welding engine components together.A robot has three distinct facets, each of which is related to a traditional field of study1. Hardware - This is the physical aspect of the robot, such as a mechanical arm, a drone vehicle or a miniature probe. Robots move using sophisticated ordnungsprinzips of hydraulics and pneumatics. They also have vast arrays of delicate sensors, which are used to observe their environments.Relevant discipline mechanical engineering2. Software - Robots are controlled by software algorithms that either run locally or on a network the robot is connected to. In the past, this software was a set of intricate instructions that to ld the robot exactly what to do in every possible situation. Today, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) make it possible for robots to teach themselves and adapt their programming as circumstances change.Relevant discipline computer science or software engineering3. Connectivity - Robots need a way for their software to communicate with their hardware and vice versa. Because of this, each robot has a system that relays instructions from the software controller to the hardware and also sends sensor data back to the controller. This connectivity is usually achieved with complex wiring, although modern robots may pass data over Wi-Fi networks.Relevant discipline electrical engineeringTo succeed in a robotics engineer job, youll need a strong background in at least one of the disciplines above, as well as a good understanding of the others.Robotics engineer job dutiesAs youve seen, robotics engineering is a multidisciplinary field, and the job itself can be dynamic based on the exact needs of your employer. In this position, youll find yourself tackling challenges in manufacturing, aeronautics and other industries. Ultimately, a robotics engineer is a problem solver.Depending on the nature of the company you work for, your role will consist of a blend of several of the following responsibilitiesAnalysis - Robots exist to solve specific problems, whether thats automating repetitive tasks or undertaking functions too hazardous for humans. Robotics engineers begin each project by performing an in-depth analysis of the issue at hand. What does the robot need to achieve? What environmental conditions might restrict deployment? What connectivity is available in the deployment zone? Robotics teams need to answer all of these questions before moving on to the design stage.entwurf and construction - Robotics engineers use 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools to create robots, which allows them to design right down to the circuit level. Computer-Aided Manuf acture (CAM) tools are then used to actually build the robots.Maintenance - Like any other machinery, robots experience wear and tear. Robot technicians often handle the day-to-day work of essential repairs and gathering diagnostics. Robotics engineers are responsible for more complicated repairs. They also perform detailed analytics on diagnostic data to ensure that everything is running smoothly.Programming - Theres no universal standard for robotics programming languages. In fact, proprietary robotics systems may each come with a unique language. Programming tasks vary but will almost certainly include projects related to AI or machine learning. Youll also work with sensors - possibly including vision control systems - and develop applications for process control and hardware interfaces.Testing - Robotics engineers must ensure that a robot functions properly and also evaluate durability by running the robot through tests in a variety of stressful scenarios. Testing can be do ne using CAD tools or by performing practical examinations on working models.Robotics engineer job descriptionTo secure a robotics engineer job, youll need a bachelors degree in a relevant field of study. Some institutions offer accredited robotics engineering programs, but many employers will also accept a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, software engineering or mathematics. In terms of hands-on experience, the robotics engineer job description typically lists requirements for knowledge of the following areasAutomationCAD and/or CAMHydraulics and pneumaticsRobotics middleware such as Robot Operating System (ROS)Proprietary robotics programming languages2D and 3D vision systemsAI and machine learningInternet of Things (IoT)Relevant industry knowledgeA general interest in robotics is also a plus. If youve built robots as a hobbyist, be certain to expand on your accomplishments in the job interview.Soft skills are also vital in robotics engine er jobs, as youll undoubtedly be working with team members across multiple departments. Employers seek candidates who are able toCommunicate clearly, both verbally and in writingCollaborate with othersSolve problems and think criticallyAdapt to new technologies and processesDemonstrate leadership and take initiativeRobotics engineer salary rangesPinpointing the robotics engineer salary is a bit challenging. This position is so new, there isnt a large data sample to draw from. Its also important to remember that compensation can vary widely based on location, degree, experience level and company size. That said, the average robotics engineer salary based on limited sources is around $85,000 per year but has significant growth potential.A career with staying powerThe IoT was relatively unheard of at the beginning of the decade, but Robert Halfs Jobs and AI Anxiety report estimates there will soon be upwards of 20 billion smart devices in the world. Human dependence on IoT - at home a nd in the workplace - is one of the major enablers of automation and robotics. With IoT, industries from logistics to manufacturing have access to even more data than previously thought possible. These data-rich environments set the perfect stage for a new generation of robots, which will continue to drive the need for skilled professionals to staff robotics engineer jobs.
